History of the Robert Schuman Argentorata

This is our story,
the one that makes us who we are and gives us hope for a prosperous future!

25 September 1992

Three Austrian students are studying for an Erasmus year in Strasbourg, but soon miss their corporate life (as part of a student fraternity in Linz). They therefore decide to found the Cercle d’Étudiants Alsatia (CEA), which wears the colours orange-purple-orange on a black background with silver percussions.

1993

Since its beginnings, our fraternity has concluded friendship pacts with several German (CV), Austrian (ÖCV) and Swiss (SES) associations of student fraternities. We are also a member of the EKV (Europäischer Kartellverband), a European association of student fraternities of Christian faith.

26 June 1996

The CEA changes its name: It is now called the Fraternité Européenne d’Étudiants Robert Schuman Argentorata (RSA) in honour of the Father of Europe and bears the colours royal blue-sunshine yellow on a silver background with gold percussion.

1997-2003

The RSA survived with difficulty and had six active student members in 2001. However, it has not been able to attract new members on a regular and permanent basis.

2004

The RSA makes contact with French people who are members of another student tradition: the Faluche. They gradually recruit some of them and form a new pool for the fraternity.

2006

In 2006, the first woman joined our ranks. From then on, the RSA became de facto mixed.

2015

The RSA has maintained more than cordial relations with the Schwarzburgbund, an association of German and Austrian student fraternities, for several years and organises its Fuchsmajortagung, an annual festive event celebrating the student fraternities, in Strasbourg.

2022

In 2022, the thirtieth anniversary of our beautiful student fraternity is be celebrated with a grand festival in Strasbourg, in which many student fraternities take part. This can only be a good omen for the fraternity, which today has an average of 20 students who are active at all times!

18 Mai 2024

We sign an official friendship pact with the Schwarzburgbund, having already signed a co-operation pact a few years earlier. This new pact paves the way for even closer relations between our organisations.
